2024 Operations & Financial Performance Surveys

The 2024 IFDA Operations & Financial Performance Survey is now open. Foodservice distribution companies that participate in the survey receive free and exclusive access to full results and customizable reporting tools.

IFDA’s Operations & Financial Performance Surveys are long-running surveys that collect key metrics to assess how your business is doing. This year, we’ve broken out the operations survey and the financial survey into separate questionnaires for ease of completion. Both are hosted in our benchmarking platform and we strongly recommend companies complete both to get the most use out of the data.

You may collaborate with colleagues across your organization to complete the surveys, which are estimated to take about 15-20 minutes each. The deadline to complete the survey is May 15, 2024.

Please note: only foodservice distribution companies are eligible to participate.

Instructions for Access

Returning Participants

If you’ve participated in previous operations and financial benchmarking surveys, enter your email address into the survey platform at www.IFDAbenchmarking.com, and the site will prompt you to enter the password you used previously (click on “forgot my password” if you don’t remember it).

  • Confirm the email tied to your account, and look for a system email with a link to reset your password.
  • If your email isn’t recognized, contact the administrator for your company to add you as a user. If you don’t know who that is, email [email protected].
  • You may access the data submitted from previous surveys in the current survey platform to update information.
  • Please note that the survey platform is not connected to the IFDA website, so your login may be different than what you use to access IFDA member content.

New Participants

  • If you’re new to the survey, the site will prompt you to create an account after entering your email address.
  • You may add additional users if you’re collaborating with team members to complete the survey.
  • We offer several flexible options to submit survey responses:
    • Enter data directly into the online questionnaire.
    • Download a PDF or Excel version of the form, complete it offline, and upload into the platform.
    • Directly upload your existing data files.

IFDA engaged Industry Insights to execute our benchmarking program. The survey is hosted and maintained on a secure server to keep your data safe and confidential. Participating companies receive:

  • Aggregate Report – a downloadable PDF report that offers an abridged overview of key results for each survey component completed.
  • Company-Specific Report — a downloadable PDF containing a company’s own ratios and statistics shown alongside their closest peers.
  • Detailed Data Tables — a downloadable Excel spreadsheet of the complete survey results. Companies that complete both the operations and financial surveys will receive additional data cuts comparing best-in-class data. Those that only complete one of the surveys will receive a standard spreadsheet for that section.
  • Searchable Results — an interactive online tool that allows users to drill deeper into the data by creating custom aggregations of the survey results.
  • Scenario Generator — provides users the ability to visualize how changes in various “scenario factors” will impact their business. (for financial survey only)
  • Interactive Report Card — provides an objective, qualitative evaluation of business performance versus similar reporting companies on the basis of various key performance measures. (for financial survey only)
