The IFDA Washington Insight Conference is an important opportunity to get insights on policy that will impact your business and to be an advocate for the industry. The program includes interactive sessions, Capitol Hill meetings with lawmakers, and networking opportunities with peers.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Business owners and other company leaders, senior human resources, General Counsel, and Division Heads and GMs.
Conference “insight” sessions include a variety of speakers addressing changes in policy and how it will affect your business. Presenters include lawmakers, IFDA legal counsel, and other experts on transportation, taxes, and workplace issues.
Capitol Hill Meetings with Lawmakers
There is no better way to cut through political noise than to meet lawmakers face to face to discuss your business. During Capitol Hill appointments, you can tell real-world stories about the impact of legislation and regulation on your business, your employees, and your customers.
From Our 2018 Agenda:
- A panel discussed the new tax law, including Senior Tax Counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee Aharon Friedman, and Chief Tax Counsel to the Senate Finance Committee Eric Oman.
- Political analyst Charlie Cook provided an outlook on mid-term elections.
- During Capitol Hill meetings with lawmakers, IFDA members advocated on behalf of foodservice distribution, including discussing The DRIVE-Safe Act, which creates an apprenticeship program for drivers under 21 to build a career in trucking and to eventually operate in interstate commerce.
- IFDA members presented the Thomas Jefferson Awards to lawmakers who demonstrated a commitment to free enterprise in their voting record.
