As foodservice readies to move into the second half of 2022, the away from home market for food and beverages finds itself vacillating between good news and bad news on an almost daily basis. COVID-19 concerns are less intense than they once were, demand for foodservice is up, and many leading chain restaurants are seeing positive results.
But uneasiness is building. Inflation isn’t showing signs of improvement and menu prices are at record levels. Gas prices are hitting consumers hard. And issues like labor aren’t getting any better for the operator. There are a number of factors that have many in the industry seeing a flashing yellow light rather than a green light over the coming months.
