The IFDA 2018 Cross-Industry Compensation & Benefits Survey report provides a detailed analysis of key compensation- and benefits-related statistics for the distribution industry. The results are based on confidential surveys from 1,037 distribution companies, including 33 foodservice distribution firms, representing nearly 9,500 locations. The International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA) was one of twenty distribution-related associations that sponsored the survey.
- Positions included in the survey are executive-level positions and 35+ salaried positions. Data is broken down by all participating firms and foodservice distributors, by annual sales (less than $10M, $10M to $50M, $51M to $100M, and over $100M), and by region (Northeast, South, Midwest, West, and Canada).
- Foodservice distribution firms offer higher median compensation for executive-level positions than overall distribution firms (i.e. CEO/President, COO/EVP/General manager, CFO, CMO, CIO).
- Additional positions where foodservice distribution firms’ average base salary exceeds the average for all distribution firms include: AR manager, controller, human resources manager, office manager, purchasing manager, buyer, sales director, operations/warehouse manager, warehouse supervisor, traffic manager, fleet manager, QA manager, database administrator, and network administrator.
- Foodservice distribution firms are on par with overall distribution firms in offering medical insurance to full-time employees (96% vs. 97%), but are more likely to also offer such benefits to part-time employees (21% vs. 11%). Similarly, foodservice distribution firms lead overall distribution firms when it comes to offering medical insurance to dependents of both full-time employees (96% vs.86%) and part-time employees (23% vs. 10%).
