On August 24, Rep. Devin Nunes (CA-22) visited Saladino’s Foodservice in Fresno, CA. The Congressman met with Saladino’s leadership and Fresno Warehouse Operations team, topics included: the current driver shortage, tax reform and food safety. Rep. Nunes then toured the facility and was impressed with the product traceability advances through the GS1 initiatives and the recently upgraded warehouse management system. “Rep. Nunes always takes the time to learn as much as he can about our operation and the issues that negatively impact the industry. His office frequently checks in with us to ask additional questions and find out if there is any way they can be of assistance. When Rep. Nunes is in his district I know can count on him to be available to meet on any government issues. He is a tremendous asset to have as a business advocate,” said Craig Saladino, President & CEO.

An active member of the International Foodservice Distributors Association (IFDA), family-owned Saladino’s Foodservice is the largest independent distributor in California. The company employs over 450 people and serves more than 4,500 customers in California, Nevada, Arizona and Oregon. The company also plays an active role in the community and promotes corporate social responsibility.

Facility visits are the best way to help lawmakers understand the challenges faced by foodservice distributors,” said Jon Eisen, IFDA’s senior vice president of government relations. “Distributors have tremendous stories to tell and these visits provide the opportunity to demonstrate the important role distributors play both in their communities and the foodservice supply chain.
