The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) would eliminate the secret ballot for union organizing elections, requiring a company to recognize a union based solely on signed union authorization cards. In addition, the legislation contains a provision to require binding arbitration if agreement on a first union contract is not achieved in 120 days. For these reasons, defeat of the Employee Free Choice Act is IFDA’s top legislative priority.

Employee Free Choice Act Podcast
Mark Allen and Jon Eisen of IFDA recently sat down to discuss the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) and its dangerous implications to the foodservice distribution industry. The 12-minute podcast provides insights on this legislation and can be used as a convenient tool by IFDA members to expand awareness of the legislation within your company as well as with customers and supplier partners. In the discussion, Mr. Eisen walks through the provisions of the legislation, answers some of the most common questions, and examines the status of the bill in Congress. Increasing the grassroots pressure on lawmakers to oppose EFCA is crucial, and we encourage you to send this paragraph, which includes a link to the podcast, to customers, suppliers, and other friends in the business community to help them understand the threat posed by EFCA and to urge them to get involved defeating the bill.
