A primary mission of our association is representing foodservice distributor interests in Washington, DC. Our pro-business philosophy makes IFDA a strong advocate for lower taxes and less burdensome federal regulation.

Our daily work on Capitol Hill helps to educate lawmakers about the concerns of our industry. That activity takes place through direct lobbying efforts as well as comments that IFDA submits on behalf of the industry during regulatory rulemaking.

As a part of the effort to build awareness of foodservice distributor concerns, our trade organization works to create opportunities for IFDA members to communicate with lawmakers. The IFDA Activist Program provides a number of ways for you to build a personal relationship with your elected representatives. The program also keeps you appraised of regulatory or legislative change that will impact your business. In addition, our staff and outside legal council provide important interpretive information in the Regulatory Watch section to help you understand what these developments will mean to your business. The Legislative Action Center also provides fast and effective tools to write letters to elected representatives, access voting records, and to learn more about Congress in general.

As we confront new challenges, our agenda continues to evolve. Based on concerns of members, and on issues identified and discussed with the IFDA Government Relations Task Force, IFDA works to shape legislation and regulations that affect the daily operations of foodservice distributors. IFDA is an extension of your business, and we encourage members to contact us when you have a concern on the legislative and regulatory front. Collectively, we can bring the voice of the industry forward to educate representatives and agencies in Washington to the real world impact of their actions.
