On June 5, Gordon Food Service hosted House Speaker Paul Ryan at its Kenosha, Wisconsin distribution center. Barry Bates, regional vice president - US distribution for GFS, provided an overview of the foodservice distribution industry and a tour of the warehouse. During the visit, Bates and Rep. Ryan discussed issues of concern for the industry, such as tax reform, healthcare and the driver shortage.

“Given the quantity of people who enter Congressional offices daily it is more important than ever that our members remain engaged in the process,” said Jon Eisen, IFDA’s senior vice president of government relations. “Being engaged means taking the time to get to know your elected officials and giving them the opportunity to get to know your business in a memorable and meaningful way. Facility visits are the best way to inform lawmakers about the challenges faced by foodservice distributors.”
