Through IFDAPAC, foodservice distributors can help elect legislators who share our pro-business outlook. Just as importantly, it helps to build an IFDA "brand identity" in Washington. Supporting our allies in Congress is a crucial part of creating a strong Washington presence. By contributing to IFDAPAC, you are helping enhance recognition and opportunity for our industry.

What is IFDAPAC?
It is a separate, segregated fund that contributes to the campaigns of candidates running for federal office. It accepts only personal contributions and cannot use IFDA dues money or corporate contributions. 

How does IFDA determine who receives contributions?
Only legislators and candidates who have demonstrated their support for the foodservice distribution industry receive contributions. Congressional vote ratings, meetings with candidates, and recommendations from IFDA members are all criteria for determining contributions. IFDAPAC is a bipartisan committee contributing to both Republicans and Democrats.  

Can IFDA members use corporate dollars for political contributions?
No.  The Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act of 2002 outlawed the use of corporate dollars by any federal candidate or party committee. 

How much can an individual contribute to IFDAPAC?
An individual can contribute up to $5,000 per year to the PAC. Additional limits apply to other types of political giving. For more information, consult the Federal Election Commission's website at www.fec.gov.

Can I raise money at my company for IFDAPAC?
IFDAPAC encourages companies to hold their own in-house fundraisers with their senior staff. Such fundraisers must be optional for employees, and employees cannot be reimbursed or otherwise compensated for IFDAPAC contributions.
